Cooked this up for first playable.  It isn't final but the silhouette of the character will serve as a placeholder while the final design goes underway.

Reference Images

Before I forget I thought I'd post some reference images that I used to help design the main character.

Character Design

-Sketch Lineup-
Favorite sketches are compiled on a single page.  This is not only convenient but necessary so I can quickly compare, edit and mix and mash designs together.
-Drawover and Silhouettes-
In this phase I go over the drawings again paying more attention to line against curve and shape v.s. size.   The general character of each design is finalized.  I try and create a variety ranging from docile robots to ones that look like they've been beating things up.  At all times though I'm still thinking: "Hero."
Also, I make sure each design reads as a silhouette and still retains its personality even with all the detail hidden.  As a silhouette the player should be able to identify him in a second.

As of now the team has decided that the bottom right design has potential and fits the initial idea they had for a character. Although the design on the bottom left may have elements we want.

Concept Sketches

The following are some concept sketches I did for my Sophomore Game Team/PRJ 201 Class.
